Development of 12 Dwellings at Schull, Co. Cork
Structural Engineering
Crocon engineers Ltd design, plan, design and oversee the construction of new buildings, or alterations and extensions to existing properties or other structures.

SAMPLE PROJECT
Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) Bantry Hospital
Works were carried out in a fully live acute hospital environment at Bantry General Hospital. The construction was carried out minimsing disruption to services. Due to the live hospital environment, management of dust control, risks of aspergillosis and liasing with infection control were all highlighted as key items to be prioritised throughout the project.
The extension is constructed using reinforced concrete construction. Particular items of note in this project were: the use of flat slab construction at roof level of this single storey extension. This design decision was made to facilitate a proposed first floor level to be constructed subsequently as a separate project.
The project also required structural works to the existing ward block to tie-in the new extension to the hospital complex including design of new opes. Civil design works to extend the drainage & foul sewer systems were also carried out following a site survey. Due to the topography of the site, a new RC retaining wall was required and designed by Crocon.
Civil Engineering
Crocon Engineers Ltd plan, design and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures:

SAMPLE PROJECT
Newmarket Primary Care Centre
Construction of a 2 storey Primary Care Centre on a green field site at Dromleigh South, Bantry, Co. Cork. Crocon Engineers Ltd carried out the structural engineering design of the building ensuring that the design complied with the brief and advised on the structural framing and construction methodology for the project, including structural design of RC structure, water, foul sewer and fire main connections, civil design of carpark and access road. The design included the design of retaining walls to be incorporated into the building.
Crocon Engineers Ltd completed all structural engineering works in a satisfactory manner and within agreed project deadlines.
Project Management
Crocon Engineers Ltd have extensive project management experience in assembly and management of integrated project design teams as well as procurement, management and over sight of build project delivery.
Representing the clients interests and developing and ensuring a clear project brief is successfully delivered on programme and on budget and with as little stress to our clients as possible. Crocon Engineers Ltd co-ordinate the project including the design team, contractors and specialist service providers and sub contractors.
SAMPLE PROJECT
O’Flynn Medical Ltd, Macroom, Co. Cork
Crocon Engineers Ltd were Lead Consultant including Civil/structural Consultancy Services for O’Flynn Medical for the completion and fit out of existing shell and core industrial unit. Works include new storage area new decontamination area, offices, and file store.
The existing structure and building fabric was assessed at commencement of design stage to achieve a practical and sustainable design. An offsite fabrication was used to develop the cleanroom / decontamination unit. The carpark is constructed of permeable paving.
Fire Safety
Crocon Engineers Ltd review a building looking at the Building, the occupants and the processes carried out within, so as to assess it for fire risk, and to provide recommendations to make sure that fire risks are removed, reduced or managed to an acceptable level to reasonably protect lives.

DAC – Disability Access Certificates
Crocon Engineers Ltd carry out Disability Access Certificate applications for commercial, industrial, health care & educational settings. We are experienced in liaising with Building Control Authorities & assessing compliance with part M of the Building Regulations.
